5 Best At Home Laser Hair Removal Devices of 2022 - Reviewer Guide

by Melissa Garner 3 min read

Laser hair removal is one of the best ways to effectively remove pesky facial and body hair. However it doesn’t come cheap. Most salons and spas require multiple sessions and will charge a fortune to get it done. Although most would agree that the long time results are well worth the price to offset the time and hassle of unwanted hair.

We have some bright news though. You can now get laser hair removal done from the comfort of your own home. They aren’t as effective as salons and spas. Rightfully so though since those require professional licensing to operate. However this is probably a good thing since you will be the operator.

The devices we have reviewed for you use intense pulse light (IPL) which is for damaging the hair follicle. This is explained by Josie Holmes, who is an esthetician at SKINNEY Medspa in New York City. She mentions that while these devices are safe, they typically take longer to see results and generally don’t have the capacity to cover large areas. Holmes continued on to say that these at home laser hair removal devices are great for touch ups between office sessions as well as for smaller areas such as the armpits and upper lip.

First and foremost you should look for safety. Make sure it’s approved or cleared by the FDA. This ensures there are safety mechanisms built into for your protection. After you’ve done that it’s time to do some research into which one is best for you. No favorites here because many of them come with benefits that others do not have. Plus everyone’s skin tone is different!

Silk’n Infinity IPL Laser Hair Removal System

Chances are if you’re on Facebook or Instagram and are into beauty and cosmetics… You have seen this device. We’re still seeing it which means they’re probably doing it right and people are getting results.

This travel sized device is compact and ready to be used in a flash on all those pesky areas. Just like other products listed here they are also FDA cleared. If you’re into sexy branding and a sexy product this is the one.

MisMon IPL Laser Hair Removal Device

This one is a solid choice and can be had for $190 on Amazon putting it in the middle of the pack for price. It has a wide array energy levels from 1 to 5 so you can treat yourself at the right setting. We like that the LCD screen tells you how many flashes are left which it comes with 300,000 total.

Philips Lumea IPL Hair Removal Device

This one comes at a higher price but Philips has been a long established electronics brand. Not surprisingly they have also made it’s way into the beauty tech world. A safe bet for trust and results which is important for anything dealing with your own skin.

Notably this one is designed for fair skin tones with dark, blonde, brown, and black hair. They state this one can also be safely used on your face in addition to all the other common spots on your body.

Braun IPL Hair Removal

This one ranks in the middle of the pack as well for pricing. Braun is a well established brand in the shaving and hair industry. Their claim on this particular device is that it is effective for medium dark skin tones. This is a common problem for those with dark and very dark skin tones. The thought is that they will always need to visit a professional service for that.

It is also loaded with 300,000 flashes and comes with a head to target hair on the bikini, underarms, or even face.

CosBeauty IPL

If you’re looking for an affordable option that designed for larger areas. Well this one might be it and would be great for legs since that’s a whole lot of surface area.

Notably works for dark blonde, brown, dark brown, and black hair in 8 minute sessions. Just like some of the other devices, this one tells you how many flashes you got left.
